The Hermit Who Said No to a Tsar | Ivan of Rila and the Rila Monastery, Bulgaria
Around the year 900, a shepherd from the village of Skrino left everything behind and went to live alone in a cave in the Rila mountains of Bulgaria. Mila tells the story of Ivan of Rila from the Rila Monastery: the hollow oak, the cave, the animals and the sick who came to him, and the day he refused to meet Tsar Petar the First and sent back his gold. Then she follows the long journey of his relics and looks at the real layer: a surviving Testament, and miracle stories that come from lives written centuries later. Welcome to Heimweer Stories, with Mila.
