Episode 98 | DOOR COUNTY GIRL | How-To-Make Cherry Cobbler | Life in Sister Bay, WI

Is there a dessert more appropriate to Door County than Cherry Cobbler? Methinks not! Rich with locally produced Montmorency Cherries, a cobbler is a great occasional dessert alternative to the Peninsula's other delicious treat, yummy Cherry Pie. My knowledgeable brother Rolf talks us through the recipe in this new episode of Door County Girl. "DOOR COUNTY CHERRY CREAM CHEESE COBBLER" RECIPE INGREDIENTS: 1/2 cup butter melted 1/2 cup white granulated sugar 1 cup all-purpose flour 2 tsp baking powder 1 tsp almond extract (or you can use vanilla extract) 1 cup milk 1 egg 1 jar of cherry pie filling, @16-24oz (e.g. Wienke’s Door County Cherry Pie Filling) 1 8oz package cream cheese DIRECTIONS: Melt butter in a 9x13 baking dish In a bowl combine sugar, flour, baking powder and whisk together. Add the extract, milk and egg to the flour mixture and stir to mix. Pour this over the melted butter in your baking dish but don’t mix it together. Drop spoonfuls of the cherry pie filling randomly into/on the batter mix Cut the cream cheese up in small pieces and drop randomly into/on the batter mix Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 35 to 40 minutes If top is not brown enough by then put under broiler for a few minutes.
