In 1986, Pripyat was a young, modern Soviet city built for the workers of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. On the 26th of April, reactor number four exploded, and the next afternoon the entire city was evacuated. Its people never came back. This documentary follows Pripyat from its founding in 1970, through the night of the disaster and the evacuation, to the creation of the exclusion zone, the work of the liquidators, the myths that grew around the city, the return of wildlife, the war of 2022, and the abandoned city as it stands today.
