Gallery Talk with Natalie Arnoldi & Bruce Guenther
Charlotte Jackson Fine Art presents A Gallery Talk: with Natalie Arnoldi and Bruce Guenther March 10, 2018 Natalie Arnoldi, daughter of California Modernist Charles Arnoldi, born in 1990 in Los Angeles, CA, is an artist living in Southern California. Her work explores the fine line between abstract and figurative painting and the psychological effects of ambiguous representation. Arnoldi makes large scale oil paintings depicting a myriad of subjects, often with an environmental narrative. Trained academically as a marine biologist, with a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master’s Degree from Stanford University, Arnoldi has pursued careers in both art and science since 2009. She has found a synergy in painting and science: two endeavors that might appear counterintuitive. Instead, each has given her a unique and enriched perspective into the other. Arnoldi has had over thirty-five paintings exhibitions, including six solo shows, and her work is in numerous prestigious collections, including the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art. Arnoldi was represented by ACE Gallery in Los Angeles, CA from 2014-2016, during which time she had two solo exhibitions. Her exhibition This Happened Here is on view through March 31st. Art historian and independent curator, Bruce Guenther is currently serving as Special Exhibitions Curator for the Oregon Jewish Museum and Center for Holocaust Education. A specialist in post-war American and European Art, Guenther was the Chief Curator and Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art, Portland Art Museum, Oregon, until his retirement in 2014. He has curated numerous major monographic and thematic exhibitions internationally, and authored numerous books and exhibition catalogues. Most recently he provided the overview essay for the Radius Books publication, "PAPER: Charles Arnoldi."
