San Blas Islands - should you go? Guna Yala, formerly known as San Blas, is an indigenous province in northeast Panama. Guna Yala is home to the indigenous people known as the Gunas or Kuna. It consists of approximately 365 islands, most of which are uninhabited. Dog Island and Isla Diablo are next to each other and 2 of the more popular islands with tourists. Dog Island is for day trippers and Isla Diablo is for people spending the night.
