Deep conviction in principles and their importance

AHIMSA. THE FIRST PRINCIPLE by Atma Prem Giri Among all the principles of Yama and Niyama, the very first and most essential is Ahimsa. This principle means not causing harm. How do you know it has begun to work? You begin to apply it in your life. And over time, you notice that fear begins to diminish. Aggression becomes weaker. Sometimes it disappears completely and is replaced by a positive chain of events. This is a clear sign that Ahimsa is working. Now let us ask a question. What is harm? What exactly should not be caused? Harm means a complete termination of existence which is the highest level of harm. It also means reducing the time something exists. Or lowering the quality of existence. This can relate to a living being. It can relate to an object. Or to what we usually call non-living nature because everything is part of life. It can even refer to the physical and mental atmosphere in which we find ourselves. When you begin to realize this, your actions begin to change. You become softer, but not weaker. You become more attentive. You become more honest — with yourself, with others, and with the world. Then the world responds to you with kindness, with reciprocity, and with positive unfolding. And that is where the true spiritual path begins, the real spiritual practice. #atmapremgiri #ahimsa #yama #awareness #spiritualpath #nonviolence #ethicsoflife #startwithyourself #attention #yogaconsciousness #practiceoflife #livinginawareness #spiritualclarity
