You & Yew Part 3
ОМСК At the Omsk War Museum, an exhibition opened on the taking of Berlin. Now, I've researched this with some additional interest as my wife's grandfather fought in WW2 under General Konev's 1st Ukrainian Front all the way to Berlin. His dangerous job was to run communication wires to forward positions in order to call down artillery fire on the enemy. Enlisting in the war at an age near 40, he thanked his wife for not crying for him at the train station like the other wives. The wives who cried never saw their husbands again. Now Agusta might have had other reasons for not shedding a tear when her husband went off to war, but we'll not explore that here. Michael had a tattoo of the Archangel Michael on his arm, and he believed that he would survive the war, and so he did. This museum packs a lot into the displays upstairs, which I have seen several times. In the back of the museum, a sizable amount of tanks, artillery, and rockets can be seen up close. To explore Soviet hardware further, one can go to Victory Park which has a shoal of new outdoor exhibitions with interactive materials.
