Georges Bizet - Duet Zurga Nadir from 'Les pêcheurs de perles' (The Pearl Fishers)
This is a historic bel canto rendition of this famous duet by tenor Luigi Fort and baritone Leo Piccioli. Of course it was originally an old 78rpm disk but I copied it from a 1976 vinyl LP. The sleeve tells me that the recording was made in 1923 but this must be a printing error as Luigi Fort was born in 1907, so 1932 or1933 seem more likely. To my taste this rendition can compete with the bettter known Gigli De Luca recording.
