Twenty thousand years ago, young hunter Keda sets out with his tribe on his first great hunt and faces a world where coming of age is measured not in words, but in the ability to survive cold, hunger, and wild animals. During a bison hunt, he falls from a cliff, and his tribe, believing the boy is dead, moves on, leaving him alone with the approaching winter. Wounded, frightened, and almost without hope, Keda begins the dangerous journey home, and his unexpected companion becomes an injured wolf whom he at first sees as an enemy. Gradually, a fragile trust grows between human and animal, turning the struggle for survival into a story of first friendship, inner strength, and the birth of a bond that will forever change the relationship between people and dogs.
