Sound Demo: Audeze LCD-2 Classic and Deckard (Part 1 of 2)
Ever longed for live demo? This is a simulated real life usage of Audeze LCD-2 Classic and Audeze Deckard, which I've personally used around 300 hours since I've purchased in 2018 and 2017 respectively. The first half of the video features binaural recordings from the chain. The second half is the original tracks. This is my attempt to breathe in objectivity in the field of audio gear review--while each person perceives sound uniquely, and this content will sound differently via different chains, the difference between the recordings and the original files remains ubiquitous. Tracks are cherry picked to cover a range of instruments, genres and frequencies. https://youtu.be/q_SCt6Mk0pk for Part 2. _ Time stamps and track list for your convenience: Pop 00:20 In the Fields by Shiver Disk 14:48 Original Track Alternative Hip Hop/Beats 02:32 My Internet Lover by AИTISOUND 17:00 Original Track Pop (Female Vocal) 06:06 Be Nice by spring gang 20:34 Original Track Chamber/Orchestra 09:49 Memories of Marigold by Howard Harper-Barnes 24:17 Original Track Metal 11:53 Nosebleed Section by Sightless in Shadow 26:20 Original Track Pink Noise (This may well be the only thing needed for some folks.) 14:33 Test Tone 48 by SFX Producer 29:00 Original Track (10 second cut) _ Detailed description of what's going on in the video: The Chain: Source → Player → DAC & Amp → Headphones .WAV → VOX on iPhone 7 → Audeze Deckard → Audeze LCD-2 Classic The iPhone 6 in front of the dummy head displays real time dB(Z) value--level of sound/noise of ambiance and leak from the headphones. The sound the headphones reproduce is binaurally recorded via microphones (Binaural Enthusiast BE-P1) located inside of silicone ears of the dummy head (BE-E). Then the recordings are tuned as identical as possible to what I hear from the chain. Obviously not everyone uses the same audio gears when watching this video. The tuning is a result of repeated tests and calibrations in a variety environments and gears; ER-4S, K701, LCD-2 Classic, HD 6XX and 58X, THX 789, a few home audio and car stereo systems, etc. However, I've spent the most amount of time to get the sound right via bundle earbuds of Samsung and Apple smartphones as well. Additionally, the second half presents the sound of original .WAV files. That way you can compare and detect sound alterations made by the chain from the original files, on your system, establishing objectivity--a rarity in audio gear review scene. Plot spectrum graphs indicate dominantly used frequencies in the track. Pitch graphs show frequencies made by instruments. Frequency spectrum graphs display all frequencies in the track. All tracks (24 bit, 48000 Hz .WAV) used in this video are from, and availabe on Epidemic Sound (https://www.epidemicsound.com/referral/tkb2a6/).
