The Ruff, Calidris pugnax, Combatente, Combatiente, Combattant varié, Kampfläufer, Kemphaan, Combattente, Турухтан 00:01 Call while feeding & Alarm call 00:23 Alarm call 00:52 Call 01:32 Call & Call while feeding Em Portugal esta ave ocorre como migrador de passagem, mas por vezes algumas aves invernam no sul do pais nomeadamente no Algarve. Foi o caso deste exemplar que em Dezembro foi visto próximo da lagoa dos Salgados alimentando-se com um bando de estorninhos-pretos. No mesmo local em janeiro dois exemplares alimentavam-se próximo dos Abibes, depois pousou um bando de estorninhos-pretos junto deles para se alimentarem em conjunto e ambas as espécies pareciam cooperar tranquilamente. Lamento não ter registado em vídeo este comportamento, estavam muito longe, mas deu para fazer algumas fotos. Was the case of this bird, which in December was seen near the Salgados lagoon, feeding and flying with a flock of spotless starling. In January on the same place, two ruffs was seen near the lapwings, then a flock of starlings arrived to feed together and both species seemed to cooperate in search of food. I regret not having recorded this behavior on video, they were to far away, but I could take some pictures.
