A gigantic asteroid capable of destroying all life is approaching Earth, and NASA has only a few days left to come up with a plan that once seemed impossible. Mission director Dan Truman concludes that the disaster can only be stopped from within: land a team of drillers on the asteroid, drill a shaft, and plant a charge that will split the celestial body before it collides with the planet.
