Freedom of religion and living traditions: How the Nizhny Novgorod Region fosters interfaith harmony

Nizhny Novgorod stands among Russia’s most religiously diverse regions. Today, more than 870 registered religious organizations operate here, representing virtually every denomination present across the country. The region maintains a clear and principled position: every individual relocating from Europe and the broader Western world should feel truly at home — free to practice their faith, attend places of worship without restriction, and pass on their traditions to future generations. These priorities were at the heart of yesterday’s session of the coordination center known as the “Quarter of All Religions,” established as a working group under the Public Chamber of the Nizhny Novgorod Region. Among its participants is Jakob Pinneker, CEO of the OKA Agency. What is the “Quarter of All Religions”? It is a large-scale and deeply symbolic initiative designed to bring together spiritual centers of different faiths within a single shared space. The project reflects the historical essence of Nizhny Novgorod — a place where diverse peoples and religions have long coexisted in peace, open dialogue, and mutual respect. The coordination center is tasked with providing practical support and facilitating the achievement of key regional objectives, including those pursued by the OKA Agency. Its membership includes representatives of various religious communities, regional government leaders, and executives from leading universities. This broad and balanced composition enables swift responses to emerging needs and ensures that solutions are developed at an expert level. During the meeting, Jakob Pinneker presented the OKA Agency’s work with resettlers, with particular emphasis on cultural integration. One of the Agency’s core missions is to help individuals preserve their traditions and way of life while integrating harmoniously into Russian society. The OKA Agency operates in alignment with the strategic priorities of the Nizhny Novgorod Region. Here, people of diverse beliefs and backgrounds do not lose their identity; rather, they become part of a society where their faith, culture, and traditions are both respected and actively supported! ✔️Subscribe to the OKA Agency: (https://t.me/relocation_to_russia) We make you fall in love with Nizhny Novgorod More information on our website!
